Privacy Policy

1. Who we are

CartSnap ("the app") is developed and published by Denimar Fernandez, a solo independent developer ("we," "us," "our"). You can reach us at hello@cartsnap.cc.

2. What CartSnap is

CartSnap is a grocery run calculator that uses on-device AI to read price tags and help you track your spending. It is sold as a one-time purchase on the Apple App Store — there are no subscriptions, no in-app purchases, and no premium tiers.

3. Data we collect

We do not collect, store, transmit, or share any personal data. Specifically:

• Camera images: Photos captured for price scanning are processed entirely on your device by a local AI model. They are never uploaded to any server. Unless you explicitly choose to save a photo, it is discarded after processing.
• Shopping data: Your cart items, prices, trip history, and preferences are stored locally on your device only. We have no access to this data.
• AI processing: All recognition and text extraction happens on-device. Nothing is sent to a cloud API or third-party service.
• Analytics: We do not use analytics, tracking pixels, telemetry, or crash reporters that transmit user data.
• Advertising: The app contains no ads and no advertising SDKs.
• Account data: There is no sign-in, no user account, and no profile. We do not know who you are.

4. Purchase and payment

CartSnap is sold through the Apple App Store as a one-time purchase.

• All payment processing is handled entirely by Apple. CartSnap never sees, stores, or transmits your payment details, credit card number, Apple ID credentials, or billing address.
• Receipt validation (proving that you own the app) is handled by Apple's StoreKit framework on your device. No receipt data is sent to us.
• Apple provides us with aggregated, anonymized sales data (such as total number of downloads per country) through App Store Connect. This data is not linked to individual users and we cannot identify you from it.
• For refunds, please contact Apple directly via reportaproblem.apple.com. We cannot issue refunds — only Apple can.

5. Network activity

CartSnap makes essentially one kind of network request during its lifetime: a one-time download of the on-device vision model from our hosting provider when you first enable scanning. This download is anonymous — we do not log who downloads the model, your IP address, or any identifying information for analytics purposes. Standard hosting access logs may exist transiently on the CDN side but are not used by us.

After the model is downloaded, the app operates fully offline. You can confirm this by using the app in airplane mode.

6. Permissions

CartSnap requests the following device permissions:

• Camera: Required to scan price tags. Camera frames are processed locally and are not stored permanently unless you explicitly save a scan.
• Storage: Used to store the on-device AI model and your local trip history.

We do not request access to your contacts, photo library, location, microphone, or any other sensitive data.

7. Third-party services

CartSnap does not integrate with any third-party analytics, advertising, social, or data-collection SDK. The only third parties involved in your use of the app are:

• Apple, for app distribution and payment processing (governed by Apple's Privacy Policy).
• Our model-hosting provider, which serves the one-time AI model download. No personal data is exchanged.

8. Data storage and deletion

All app data — trip history, preferences, downloaded AI model — is stored locally on your device. Uninstalling CartSnap will remove all associated data from your phone. Because we never receive your data, there is nothing on our side to delete.

9. Children's privacy

CartSnap is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone, including children.

10. Your rights

Because we do not collect personal data, there is no user data for us to access, export, correct, or delete on your behalf. All of your CartSnap data lives on your device and is under your direct control.

11. Changes to this policy

If this policy ever changes — for example, if a future optional feature introduces any form of data processing beyond your device — we will update this page with a revised date and, where required, request your explicit consent before any such feature is enabled.
